Fourth success story

In level 4 of lockdown, Bubbles Day Care center has stayed open for the children of front-line workers, everyone from doctors to grocery store clerks. As school districts sweat over reopening plans, and with just over half of parents telling pollsters they're comfortable with in-person school this season, public health and policy experts say education leaders should be discussing and drawing on these real-world child care experiences.  We did temperature checks and symptom screenings on each child coming in each day, with staff members wearing masks, gloves and gowns where available. Children with symptoms were urged to stay home. Staff came up with creative ways to reinforce frequent and thorough hand-washing. We reinforce social distancing by having the kids make "airplane arms" when they're standing in line or moving from place to place. And children get their own materials, such as art supplies, to use from day to day, rather than sharing.

Third success story

In kindergarten, children get their first taste of organized schooling and will want to show off everything they are learning. A talent show is a function that kids will be proud to participate in and parents will be proud to attend. Kindergarteners will range widely in their development, so be sure to provide numbers that all kids can participate in, and to highlight the children's strengths. Talent shows can display only the kindergarten class for the evening, or the kindergarten class can be just one act in the talent show for the whole school.  Not all kids love to sing and dance, though often these activities are the types of activities chosen to showcase in a talent show. Allow students who have other strengths to display them; think outside the box and offer suggestions and support for these students as well. One student may want to memorize and tell some jokes, while another might do magic tricks. If students have a talent that is not a performance, such as painting or s

Second success story

On the 18 July 2020, Bubbles Day Care centre supported Mandela Day by collecting tinned food for the less privileged. The tinned food has been donated to families in Lotus Gardens and will be included with their food parcels. Zuhair Bhabha, Serina Cao, Thishaan Nathoo, Michael Jacobson, Beverly Hove, Fathima Sarkhot, Massimo Carrozzo, Amogelang Macalagh and Keamogetswe Ramushu all collected tinned food in celebration of Mandela Day.

First success story

On the first day of school, all kindergarten children and their parents are invited to attend an orientation session instead of a typical first day of school.  During this orientation session, children will get to know their classmates, meet their teachers, and participate in some introductory kindergarten activities.  While the children are involved in these activities, the parents will meet with the kindergarten teacher for an overview of the kindergarten program.    During this parent session, you will learn about each aspect of kindergarten and what you can expect throughout the year. Teachers will share specific information about arrival and dismissal - buses, snack (some schools collect money and the teachers buy the snack other schools ask parents to send in snacks for the class), lunch, volunteering opportunities, classroom schedules, and special activities.  It may be a good idea to bring your calendar as many teachers invite you to schedule your first conference in October wi
